Places to go

Multi Media Mapping make finding the location of most places in the UK "just a click away". If you have the place name, postcode, grid ref or even telephone number it can give you a map (up to 50,000 scale). The maps are not detailed enough for walkers needs but they get you there.

Lake District National Park One of the most lovely parts of Britain, get the details here.

Lakeland's Top 200 tops Information on all the "tops" in the Lake District with an altitude of over 2000 ft.

The Pennine Way A sort of "thin" place 250 miles long, running up the backbone of England... more a state of mind for many walkers. If you want to do "the way", get a wide range of information at this site.

Accommodation

Youth Hostels Association (England and Wales) If you are between six and sixty years old but still young at heart these people may be able to help you with your accommodation problem.

Scottish Youth Hostels Association And if you are "north of the border" well... this is the Scots version of the YHA.

Mountain Bothies Association Still "north of the border" but out in the "wilds"?. There would be a lot of dead walkers if it were not for these people.

UK Train Times If you are using public transport (and you should if you can) get the info straight from Railtrack at this site.

Yorkshire "Dalesbus" Information This site provides details of the Dalesbus network, and other bus and train services in the Yorkshire Dales, and provides links to numerous sites of interest to us walkers.

UK Bus Times Avoid waiting at the bus stop for ages.... plan your journey a number of northern counties, including Yorkshire are involved with this interactive website..... ask the "Station Master"
