Pudsey 10K Challenge & Family Fun Run
Sunday 8th July 2001
Raising funds for the Marie Curie (Bradford) Appeal
There is good news for runners despite the foot and mouth restrictions. The Pudsey Challenge has been confirmed as going ahead this year after making revisions to the original course.
The new course will incorporate 50% off-road tracks including woodland areas and the start and end of the race will be on quite roads. The course is promised to be more of a challenge this which organisers hope will make it a more interesting and competitive race than ever before.
There is a generous list of prizes and goodies, with parking, bar and facilities available at Pudsey Leisure Centre.
The race has been organised by Pudsey Pacers, a cross-country and road running club based at Pudsey Leisure, and who have just celebrated their 10th year. They take groups of mixed ability runners out every Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm. The club participates in all race distances and are very proud of their diverse memberships base. Notable achievements include Reg Aylesbury completing Leeds Half Marathon this year on his 87th birthday and Don Stead (62) who has completed over 60 marathons in the last ten years and won his age group in the Leeds Marathon. The club hope that the race will be an enjoyable experience to runners old and new and that it will encourage more people to take an exercise program.
