Friends of Calverley Woods...
an update

At a well-attended meeting held at Park Side School on Thursday evening, Friends of Calverley Wood agreed its constitution and elected its Committee. Sarah Clowes, the newly elected Chairman said ‘We will hold bi-monthly meeting, most of which will be open meetings, but do give one of the committee members a ring first, just in case we have to book a larger room to accommodate’ ‘We do stress that the group will be a very active group, there is a lot to do to preserve the woods.

For those who are thinking, ‘meetings are not for me, I like direct action’, well, here is a date for your diary, A LITTER PICK on Sunday, March 2nd.

This is thier first major event and the LITTER PICK starts at 11am at the bottom of Calverley Cutting (Apperley Bridge end) Anyone coming along is advised to wear strong footwear and bring with then some waterproof gloves with them (Marigolds or the like).

Sarah added that the LITTER PICK may not be a safe outing for young children but hopes the event will attract many from the area. Those with Cameras are urged to bring them along to record the event.

The next committee meeting will take place in 2 weeks time, anyone wishing to attend can contact Sarah on 0113 257 8562
