The newly
refurbished church of St. Lawrence in Pudsey rang out with happy
voices when the String of Beads choir gave their repertoire of
popular songs.
The audience of
Rotarians and their friends joined in the singing after the
refreshment interval and everyone seemed to enjoy the occasion
and the surroundings.
The event was
organised by Geoffrey Barton and the Aquabox project team to
raise funds to purchase the boxes, each one capable of purifying
1100 litres of contaminated water.
The Aquabox
Team have a 5 year target of 100 boxes. With this evenings
surplus of £375.00 they
have already raised enough money to buy 36 boxes within the first ten months
The boxes are filled
with 'welfare items' by club members and other volunteer groups. |
